It has taken us years to get in to a bedtime routine. Not from lack of trying , the anklebiters were terrible sleepers from the get go. No matter what type of routine we tried it didn’t work. They did start sleeping through at around two and a half.

Recently the people at the book trust got in touch and asked if we would like to try the bath book bed routine and tell out readers about it.

BookTrust is the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. We work to inspire a love of reading in children because we know that reading can transform lives. Each year we reach 3.4 million children across the UK with books, resources and support to help develop a love of reading.

Bath, Book, Bed background information
BookTrust’s integrated campaign Bath, Book, Bed is back for its third year. Last year they found that new parents were losing out on over 650 hours of sleep a year.

Their solution is a simple 3 step routine that includes a soothing bedtime read to help little ones sleep soundly. There’s no need for gadgets and gizmos, all you need to remember is Bath, Book, Bed.

As well as helping with an immediate problem faced by many parents and carers, Bath, Book, Bed encourages families to make reading for pleasure part of their daily routine and gets kids hooked on books from an early age.

Following on from the success of the last two years they will be providing a further 600,000 free advice booklets for parents and will be hosting a week of activity.

Our routine always includes bath , book and bed. I feel that the warm bath really calms them down and relaxes them before bed. They love talking about their day with Daddy , as he has been in work all day he also enjoys finding out what they got up to so he does bath time.

They also love a good bedtime story and have so many amazing books that they enjoy. Some of them they want read to them over and over again and never bore of them.

We were sent three new books from the Booktrust and we have been trying them out before bed the little ones have really enjoyed them. We were also sent some peppa pig bubble bath , toothbrushes and toothpaste which made bedtime just that bit more exciting , they could not wait to go to bed just to try them out.

You can download the booklet to see for yourself and get some helpful tips from parenting expert Jo frost, featuring Daddy Pig.
