It is more than possible to make money from your blog. Whether you class yourself as a full-time, ‘professional’ blogger, or someone who does it on the side as a hobby, there are ways of earning an income with it. It does take some effort – after all, no business is successful without a bit of input from the owner. Here, we look at some of the more popular ways of making money from your blog.

Sponsored and Paid Guest Posts

This is one of the most common amongst bloggers. There are various ways of doing it – some companies ask you to write an article with a link back to them or their product in return for a payment. Others will write the post for you, and all you have to do is to publish it. This is known as a guest post. Other companies might pay to have links inserted into posts you have written. It is an excellent way of earning some money, as long as you remember to declare that you have been paid to write them or publish them – it is not only the law, but it is also essential to maintain the integrity of your blog.

Pay Per Click Advertising

Pay per click (PPC) or cost by click (CPC) adverts, as they are sometimes known, is a really great way of generating passive income from your blog. They are usually on the sidebar of your blog, and when a reader clicks on them, you generate a small amount of money (often only a few pennies, but it soon adds up!). Many companies go through Google Ads to do it, but are managed by a fully certified PPC agency to make sure it is focused and aimed at their target audience,

Affiliate links

This is another superb way of earning passive income in that once it is set up, it can continue to make money with little or no input from you. An affiliate link is when you include a link to a product, and if a reader clicks through from your trackable link and buys the product, you earn a commission. One of the leading players in the affiliate game is Amazon, which is a good one because they have a 30-day cookie policy. This means that if someone goes through an Amazon link from your blog and buys something in the next 30 days, even if it, not the product you are advertising, and they have cookies enabled, you will get a percentage of whatever it is that they buy.

Sell Digital Products

This involves some time in the beginning, but once it is set up, it can earn you a tidy profit. Think about what you can offer others – workbooks or printables, for example, and sell those from your blog!

With a little bit of effort, you can make money from your blog, but above all, remember content is always king.
