With the summer holidays upon us I am scouting out all the activities to do and to keep us busy during the long six weeks. My two need to be out and about every day or they drive each other crazy. We have visited a few parks around Pontypool and these are our favourites.

Pontypool Park

I love the fact you can go for long walks around and explore the park , even feed the ducks. There are loads of places to have a picnic too. You also have the option of walking up to the folly and shell grotto and the views are amazing from here. My two love the play park and can spend hours there. I also like the option of being able to grab a coffee and ice creams in the leisure centre.

Abersychan park (Glynsychan Park)

Love this little gem of a park tucked away up near Brynteg nursery. Loads of space to walk around an explore too. We usually take a picnic up and the little ones play in and out of the park and explore or collect pine cones , sticks etc. There is also a fab little shop just down the lane from the park in high street for tip tops or ice creams and they even have a coffee machine (you have probably guessed by now I’m a coffee addict)

Usk Island park

Another hidden gem in such a beautiful location next to the river. You can explore the huge field too or take a football. There are picnic benches under the trees in the shade too. The play park is great , loads to keep the little ones busy too. Again loads of space to just run free and enjoy. There is also a little burger van in the car park that sells coffee and treats.

Newport Wetlands

This is a fab play park with loads for the little ones to do and a zip wire sing. You can also walk around the wetlands and do some pond dipping , look at the bug hotel and generally explore. There is a lovely cafe too which we have had lunch in and enjoyed.

Bailey park Abergavenny

We love this park as there is so much space to run around and you can also take bikes / scooters and go along the path around the park. They have a fab play park with space loads to play on for little ones and older ones. There are loads of spots for a picnic too.

Linda Vitsa park Abergavenny

Not a play park but this is the prettiest little park. There is loads of space to explore and run around. Also a lovely place for a picnic.

Do you know of any other parks in the area ? If so please let me know.
