We love adventures here and are always looking for new places to visit and explore. I think it’s so important to keep active even if the weather isn’t that great. You can always dress appropriately for the weather and climate. As long as you have good quality outdoor wear , walking boots ,  waterproofs and comfy trousers like these ones from Chums you are ready to take on any kind of weather.

Last week we decided to visit the Canyon in Pantygasseg not far from us , I’ve heard so many good things about this and couldn’t wait to go. The area is an old open cast mine set above the beautiful Welsh Valleys. See the google map at the end of this post for the exact location.

When we got to the site we parked up at a small car park for about three cars. If you walk over the stye directly opposite the car park and carry on walking you will come to the Canyon. I was amazed as soon as we entered it felt like we were in a cowboy scene in an old American film.

There is so much open space for the little ones to run around also loads for them to look at and explore. We heard so many wows , what’s that ? look at this coming from the ankle biters they were in awe. They were so excited to see the odd sheep scattered across the cliffs and little caves.

If you walk all the way to the end you come to a small lake which you can walk along but we only got around a quarter of the way with the little ones as it involved jumping over rocks which got a bit much with two toddlers. The water is turquoise in colour and so clear , it is one of the most peaceful places I have been to. When you spoke or raised your voice like the little ones do it felt like your echo’s went on for miles.

We are definitely going to return to the Canyon but next time we will be armed with our camp stove for hotdogs and hot chocolate. If you are local or in the area I would really recommend this stunning little Welsh Valleys Grand Canyon. It is an area of outstanding beauty and fantastic for all ages and to help keep you active during these autumn / winter months.
