I love the neutral look but still want it to be cosy. I am aiming for this theme in the lounge , I love the idea of keeping the walls a neutral colour but adding subtle accessories along the way. At the moment we have plain magnolia walls with wooden flooring so this gives us loads of flexibility with things that we add in to the lounge. Our sofa is also a neutral grey , I love the patterned sofas but it’s just not practical if you want to make changes.

One thing our lounge is lacking is lighting , we still have the light fittings that came with the house which are really dated. We also need some lamps for the evenings. I was browsing online for something to catch my eye and came across a fab site called Utility Design.

I love the contemporary floor lamps and the vintage style designs. And for the ceiling lamps I love the low hanging bistro style fittings. I think they will really brighten up the lounge especially in the colder months as it can be a bit darker.

I’m also on the look out for the perfect black and white prints with a splash of colour added to them. We need to find some that will bring out our personality as a family. I am keen on the tropical and designs and Frankie loves Flamingos so we are on the lookout for something with this theme that catches our eye.

I think having extra light in the room and not too many dark colours can make all the difference and really transform the space. Everything looks cleaner and brighter and the can actually make the space look bigger.

We have a lot of interior work to do to fix up the house just as we want it and we will get there in time. I’m really starting to learn that accessories make all the difference. I love the little potted plants and trinkets that are bang on trend at the moment.

The rug and scatter cushions are going to be the feature pieces in the lounge so something in bright colours would really work well and stand out in the neutral lounge. I love the geometric designs too as they make a fab feature piece. I’m really excited to see what the future brings with the development of the lounge and can’t wait to see the finished product.
