The garden is the biggest bug bare about this house , it’s a lovely big garden with incredible views but to be quite frank it’s a mess! As the house has been rented out for 12 years it’s had no love ,TLC or care. We love the layout but just need to make it a more functioning garden. I think we are going to have to put a lot of time in to this.
The garden is split over 3 levels and goes down , standard valley garden they either go own very steeply or go up. I think I prefer that it goes down as we have a large area at the bottom for the children to play. I found a great site whilst browsing called Garden Tool Box which will be a great source for tools to help transform the garden.
The first level is where the back door/porch opens out this platform is concrete and is used for storage of plan pots etc and also has a brick shed and an outside toilet ! This area could have a fab little extension from he kitchen and dining room if we were to re design it. The garden over looks mountains and all the way down the valley so a conservatory to take in the views with a morning coffee would be great.
The next level is grass and concrete and at the moment has a storage shed. The plan is to totally clear this area and flatten it properly and then get some decking down and make this the BBQ and seating area. I have so many plans for garden string lights , bunting and loads of pretty bits and pieces.
The final level is the large grass area , this part of the garden is not level at all and needs leveling out. We plan to have a mini greenhouse and also a vegetable patch – we tried out hand at grow your own over the summer and didn’t do too badly so now we want to do it properly. We also love the idea of getting some chickens and having our own eggs.
There are also steps leading down to the garden that are now a bit old and rickety and need new ones put in.
As you can see we have grand plans and it’s probably the first thing we will work on so that it is ready for next summer. The little ones love being out the garden so we really want to make this a safe and fun place for them. It has so much potential and I’m excited to see how the plans roll out.
Have you got any big garden plans ? I would love to hear about them.
