The canary islands are fab as they offer so many attractions and the draw of winter sun. Each island has different aspects that appeal to different sets of people. I have visited both Tenerife and Lanzarotte and loved them both , there really was something for everyone.
Tenerife was particularly good for families with plenty to do for all ages. It also has that winter sun aspect meaning you can go off-peak to keep the cost down. I also like the fact that it would be warm enough to enjoy outdoor activities but not sweltering hot for the little ones. The four-hour flight is also a big draw as it’s not too long of a journey for children.
There are so many family friendly places to stay when in Tenerife. For example Clickstay have an amazing selection of accommodation. Clickstay specialise in accommodation in the form of luxury private pool villas , ski chalets and chic city apartments. They currently have a property count of 70,000. You would for sure find many suitable Clickstay villas in Tenerife to choose from.
There are so many attractions for children in Tenerife I have come up with my ultimate list for children visiting Tenerife.
The submarine safari is a fabulous experience for children and adults too. The submarines run from the marina San Miguel and there is a shuttle bus that will take you from various points in Tenerife.
The experience is like an underwater marine park with plenty of sea-life to look at and explore. There is also a cafe and shopping area so this makes a fabulous family day out. There are other activities such as diving and fishing too so there really is something to do for everyone.
Siam park is located in Costa Adeje and has a Siamese theme , it is literally like stepping in to a mini Thailand. There is so much to do here for families and the children. There is a huge water park to explore with a smaller section for the little ones too.
There are jungle snake sides which you can go on with inflatables. I love the idea of the huge wave pool too. There are places to eat and shops also situated here so it’s a full day out for everyone. There are also places to relax too , if you can with the little ones ! They also boast to have the biggest water slide in the world ! So much fun to be had here.
This is for the more adventurous families , with so much to do and see. Here you can visit national parks , traditional villages and see the wonders of the mountain. You can even take a trip to the centre and discover the volcano , the third largest in the world.
Tenerife has some beautiful beaches ! On the island’s south coast resorts like Playa Las Americas, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. These are the places to visit if you are looking for beach fun. You can find white sands here , which is fab as some of the islands have the black volcanic sand. There are plenty of water sports to choose from too and beach front restaurants to eat at.
As you can see there is plenty of things to keep you busy as a family in Tenerife , there are also loads of other places I haven’t mentioned here too. If you are looking for a fun family holiday then this Canary island will be right up your street.
