We were recently invited to Trevornick , Hollywell Bay Cornwall. I had never visited Cornwall before so I was really excited to see what it had to offer. Trevornick is five-star holiday park and offers camping pitches , cottages , static caravans , touring and motor home pitches. The static caravans are newly opened in May 2018.
The park has fishing lakes which you can buy passes for , they also have an 18 hole golf course and an 18 hole pitch and putt golf course too for the younger ones. Hollywell fun park is located on site which has rides and attractions for all. There is a soft play for the younger members which Frankie really enjoyed. We were so impressed by how much they have going on for all ages and interests.
There is a heated swimming pool, sauna, solarium and Jacuzzi an even a baby pool on site as well as a tranquility spa. Fab for chilling out whilst on holiday. There is also a surf school , hire shop and games room for the older children. Archie and Frankie loved the little arcade with 2p machines and various machines to play on.
They have an entertainment package in the evening and clubs for the children throughout the day. The sports field is a great place for a game of football or rounders. As you can see there really is something for everyone and all tastes.
The cottages , euro tents , statics etc are self catering but there are various options on site. There is a shop which was really well stocked with essentials , toys , fresh food etc. Then there are a few restaurants including diner , cafe and restaurant.
The caravan was beautifully decorated and kitted out with new fixtures and fittings. We had the three bedroom with en suite laid back coastal caravan. The caravan comes with bed linen , you did have to make up your own beds as the bedding was left for you. I do think it would have been nicer if the beds were made up as after a long journey and with two little ones it would have been nice if it was all ready to go. Towels are not provided so you need to bring your own.
The bedrooms were comfy and well equipped with storage space for us – the main bedroom had a full size wardrobe with shelves and 2 large drawers which was fab for us. There was also a small dressing table area which I thought was a fab touch. The smaller twin rooms had a full size single wardrobe with a shelf at the top , all rooms had a large shelf above the bed which in the children’s room we used for their clothes. The beds were comfy as were the pillows , I loved that they had carpet too as this would make it cosy in the colder months.
The lounge and kitchen area was great , I loved the huge corner sofa as it meant there was plenty of room to chill. The dining area also had a corner sofa and a bench with a large table so plenty of room for a larger family. There was a full size TV with free view channels which was great for movie nights and C beebies in the morning. There was also a Trevornick channel 8 which aired movies at certain times of the day.
The kitchen had everything you would have at home and a large fridge freezer. This made is easy when cooking meals and preparing breakfast , I was very impressed with how fast the oven was. There was also a cupboard just off the kitchen with a Hoover , clothes horse, iron , dustpan and brush and mop and bucket which was really handy.
The shower room was great for us , it had a good size shower with a glass door. There was also a toilet and a mirror with a cabinet for your toiletries. We also had an en suite in the main bedroom complete with sink , mirror and toilet. This was so handy as the little ones always want to use the toilet when you do or their siblings does!
There were French doors in the lounge area that took you out to a decking area with a table and chairs , perfect for AL fresco dining in the summer months. My two loved playing with their toys on the decking , it was also handy to use the clothes horse to dry various beach bits.
Heating , electric and WiFi are included in the price , the WiFi was great and enough for me to use social media and my laptop for blog work whilst we were away. Overall the static was perfect for us and I was really impressed with the facilities.
Woody’s Bar – restaurant
We were given a voucher to try out Woody’s bar for a family meal. The restaurant overlooks the golf course and Hollywell Bay. The menu is simple but enough choice for a family and a great kids menu, you could also have a smaller portion of anything off the main menu for the little ones. There was also a specials board.
I went for the homemade lasagna which was gorgeous , it came with homemade garlic bread and a lovely dressed side salad. James had the pretzel bun cheeseburger , it came with chips and homemade coleslaw which he really enjoyed. The little ones went for something off the main menu so the chef made them a smaller portion – they had the gammon , egg, chips and beans which they really enjoyed. Overall we really enjoyed the meal and would recommend a visit.
Hollywell fun park
It really was fab to have a fun park on site , entry to Hollywell fun park is free – you then have to pay for the rides or you can buy a wristband for the day. We were gifted all day wrist bands which meant we had full unlimited access to all rides and the crazy golf. The park also had a trampoline and air bounce section.
There were a few rides the little ones could go on as they all had different height restrictions so I would say the rides were slightly better for older children as they didn’t have much choice. There was also a soft play on the park which was great for the little ones , Frankie and I visited whilst Daddy and Archie went to have a round of crazy golf. The little ones really did enjoy the few hours they spent at the fun park , there is also a maze at the park and diner which is very child friendly. We love getting out and keeping active so this was perfect.
Obviously you have the stunning Hollywell bay beach which is a short drive away or a 15 minute walk. Newquay is a short drive , it’s a lovely little town and we adored Fistral beach. We sat for hours and played watching the surfers come and go. I can really recommend Rick Steins restaurant too we really enjoyed our meal there too.
Newquay also has a sea life center and a zoo , the surrounding areas have many attractions for all ages. We also loved Perranporth Beach and town , we spent a few hours here in the rock pools catching fish and putting them back in to the sea. We also explored the beautiful caves too. There are some lovely little shops and a fab baguette and pasty shop which we enjoyed lunch at. Also if you gave a sweet tooth and love cake Pauline’s Creamery in Newquay is the place to be, we had some gorgeous cakes from there and the little ones loved it. There are also plenty of supermarkets in town for supplies.
*We were gifted a complimentary stay for 3 nights in a laid back coastal caravan , a golf and fishing pass, a meal for four at Woody’s bar and a family day pass for Hollywell fun park. All photos , thoughts and opinions are my own.
