As you know we love our mini breaks and staycations. The anklebiters love the adventures. We were thrilled to be offered a three night stay at Hendre House Cottages near Solva , Pembrokeshire.
Hendre House Cottages are owned by Michelle and Andrew Reason , who also live in their home on site. They have three holiday cottages one of them has one bedroom with room for an infant in a travel cot and the others are two bedroom with bunk beds in one room and a double bed in the other. The Winterton cottage that we stayed in also had a double sofa bed in the lounge which is fab if there are more of you. All three cottages also have private enclosed gardens or courtyards with picnic tables.
The facilities at Hendre House Cottage are second to none. These include an indoor heated swimming pool with lounge area and a hot tub. There is a play park with a climbing frame , swings and a playhouse with plenty of room to run around too. There is also the game/book/DVD shed which is amazing and packed to the brim with goodies for children and adults. There is also an indoor BBQ hut so you can BBQ whatever the weather or even just toast marshmallows.
The cottages are so child friendly and you can even request the following free of charge during your stay –
- Travel cot
- Bed guards
- Bumbo seat
- Baby monitor
- Baby bath seat
- Baby bath thermometer
- Bottle warmer
- Bath toys
- Sippy cups
- Changing mat
- Baby food blender
All of this makes life so much easier if you are travelling with little ones. The amount of things you have to pack with a baby this really takes the load off.
The cottage itself is so well equipped , it has everything you would have at home. The kitchen has all of the equipment needed to cook and bake. There is a full size fridge and freezer , dishwasher , washer/dryer and a microwave. There is tea , fresh ground coffee with cafitere , milk and homemade Welsh cakes for when you arrive. This was such a lovely touch and the Welsh cakes were the best we had tasted. The cottages are also dog friendly.
All cleaning products and dishwasher tablets were in the cupboard below the sink which was so handy. There is also an iron/ironing board , hoover/mop and hairdryer provided so you don’t have to pack yours. Firewood, kindling, firelighters and matches were also left to use for the log burner which was so cosy at night. An information pack and flyers providing information about the local area was so handy. There was also a large selection of leaflets with attractions for the local area.
The swimming pool/Hot tub
The pool was fab and the little ones favourite, they could not wait to get in every day. The pool is open from 8am-7pm in the winter and 8am to 9pm in the summer so there is plenty of time to have fun. It was lovely and warm in the pool house and also in the heated pool. The table and chairs and loungers are so handy for relaxing by the pool. There was a chest full of inflatable , rings and armbands which was just fab.
The hot tub was amazing and the little ones also enjoyed , it was set at 38 degrees which was just perfect for them and us. We did have some amazing times here and so many memories were made , it was just perfect. As you can see by the amount of pictures we spent a lot of time here.

The Games shed
We love this. The shed is full to the brim with DVD’s , books and games. They have a selection for both adults and children. I love this idea for movie nights when the little ones have gone to bed. There is also a fabulous selection of toys for younger ones too enjoy too.
The play park
My two ran over to the park as soon as we got out of the car , they thought it was amazing. There are two swings , a climbing frame , playhouse with kitchen and little tykes car. There is also loads of grass to run around on near the park and picnic benches. I love that you don’t have to leave the cottages if you don’t want to and still have loads of fun.
The BBQ shed
The BBQ shed is such a great addition , we didn’t get to use it this time but love the idea of it. The cabin seats up to 15 and everything you need is supplied even blankets for those cooler evenings. There is a booking sheet for the cabin for when the cottages are at full capacity. You can buy buckets of coal on site at £6 each. There are also BBQ’s in every cottage garden for the summer.
The cottage was just gorgeous , I loved the modern feel and the décor. There were so many lovely touches like the ornaments , wall art and fresh flowers all of this made it feel like home from home. The kitchen was fab to cook in and had everything you needed. The heating and hot water system was top notch , it felt lovely and toasty at all times and we never had to wait for hot water. The log burner was so cosy in the evening and easy to use.
The bed was really comfy and we had some peaceful nights sleep. The bunk beds were great but we felt the little ones were a bit young to sleep on the top so we let Archie sleep on the bottom and Frankie slept in a travel cot that was provided. They both slept really peacefully with no wake ups. There is no bedding provided for the travel cot so be sure to bring the cot duvet or sleeping bag.
Towels are provided for every guest which was great and one less thing to pack. You do have to bring towels for the pool. There is a retractable washing line over the bath which we used for drying the towels after swimming.
The local area
Newgale beach is just a five-minute drive away , this beach is a large one and so pretty. There are many coastal walks to go on and all info for these are provided in the information pack. There are also pubs and restaurants to enjoy meals in the area. If you want to go further a field folly farm and Tenby are around 40 mins away.
We honesty cannot find one single fault with this holiday , Michelle and Andrew were great and have thought of every detail. We especially loved how family friendly it was. The facilities were second to none. We will definitely be back.
*We were given a 3 night complimentary stay in return for this review , as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
